Ohio residents and travelers are advised to be aware of significant road construction and maintenance projects that are set to impact various highways and state routes across the state. The projects, ranging from lane restrictions to full closures, are expected to cause delays and detours throughout the coming months.
In Allen County, Interstate 75 will experience periodic lane restrictions between National Road in Cridersville and 4th Street in Lima from July 26 to August 28 for micro-surfacing. Additionally, the same stretch of I-75 will be reduced to one lane for pothole patching from August 24 to 28. State Route 66 between Delphos and Spencerville is currently open following a closure for full-width paving, but State Route 66/Main Street in Delphos will close from September 16 to 20 for the annual Canal Days festival.
In Auglaize County, the shoulder near the I-75 Northbound Rest Area will be closed from August 24 to 28 for ditch work. Lane closures are also expected on I-75 between Middle Pike and Hengstler Road from May 18 through mid-August 2026 for cable rail installation. State Route 29 in St. Marys will have intermittent single-lane restrictions from March 16 through September 2026 for sidewalk installation and signal upgrades, while SR 219 will be closed for bridge reconstruction from May 18 through approximately 90 days.
Hardin County will see State Route 37 closed for approximately 45 days starting August 31 for culvert replacement, and U.S. 68/Detroit Street will be closed for about six days starting August 24 for railroad crossing repairs. The Harvest and Herb festival in Ada will cause State Route 235 to close from September 19 to 19, and State Route 701 will be open following culvert replacement as of August 24.
In Putnam County, State Route 65 in Leipsic will be closed from September 18 to 20 for a village festival, and SR 114 and SR 115 in Kalida may experience temporary traffic impacts from July 27 to October 30 for a shared-use path construction. Various road closures and lane restrictions are also scheduled in Van Wert County, including a restricted crossing U-turn on U.S. 30 and roundabout construction on U.S. 224/Lincoln Highway.
These road construction projects are part of a larger effort to improve infrastructure and safety across Ohio. While the work is necessary, it is expected to cause inconvenience to commuters and travelers. It is recommended that drivers stay informed about the latest road conditions and plan accordingly to avoid delays and detours. For real-time updates, residents are encouraged to follow local news outlets and check the Ohio Department of Transportation website.
