Florida Woman Facing Grand Theft Charges After Man Reports $98,000 Rolex Stolen Following Nightclub Encounter

Authorities in South Florida have filed second-degree felony charges against a 32-year-old woman accused of grand theft after an early-morning encounter at a South Florida residence allegedly culminated in the disappearance of a luxury timepiece valued at nearly $100,000.

According to court filings from the Hallandale Beach Police Department, Lynda Mae Crouse of Miami is accused of taking the high-end wristwatch after meeting a man at a local entertainment venue in April. The victim told detectives he suspected he had been incapacitated with an unknown substance before discovering the valuable item was missing from his home.

The criminal case centers on an item identified in court documents as a gold 40 mm Rolex Presidential watch. The high-value timepiece, which features baguette diamond hour markers and a diamond-covered bezel, carries an estimated value of $98,400 according to a certified appraisal provided to law enforcement by the owner.

According to a probable cause affidavit, the interaction originated in the early hours of April 12 at the Carousel Club, located within Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach. Police reports indicate that the two individuals initiated a conversation shortly after midnight and exchanged their respective Instagram contact details prior to departing the venue separately.

Investigators noted that roughly one hour after parting ways, the man arranged for an Uber rideshare service to transport Crouse from her residence directly to his home. Upon her arrival, the two spent time together inside the property and consumed alcoholic beverages.

The situation took a turn when the homeowner stepped away into his bedroom to change clothes. In his statements to law enforcement, the man recalled that he experienced an abrupt onset of extreme fatigue and began feeling physically abnormal. While in the bedroom, he reported hearing a distinct clapping sound emanating from the adjacent living room area.

Upon re-entering the common living space, the man observed that Crouse’s demeanor had noticeably changed. She informed him that she was leaving the residence immediately. Due to overwhelming exhaustion, the victim fell asleep shortly after her exit.

Upon waking several hours later, the victim reported that he continued to experience unusual physical symptoms and formed the suspicion that he had been covertly drugged during the visit. A subsequent search of his living room revealed that the storage box for his Rolex was empty, leading him to conclude that the clapping noise he had heard earlier was the sound of the watch container being snapped shut.

Although the victim did not seek hospital care or undergo formal toxicology screening in connection with the Hallandale Beach incident, he provided detectives with a sworn, audio-recorded statement detailing the persistent physical effects he experienced from the suspected ingestion of an unknown substance.

During the subsequent investigation, detectives presented the victim with a standard six-person photographic lineup. According to police records, the man successfully identified Crouse as the woman who had accompanied him to his residence on the night in question.

Law enforcement affidavits reveal that investigators are reviewing potential connections between Crouse and four other active criminal investigations across Miami-Dade County. Police stated that these pending matters involve a similar pattern in which male victims wearing expensive luxury watches were approached at hospitality establishments and accompanied to residences or hotel rooms before their timepieces vanished.

The charging affidavit highlighted findings from a related Miami investigation involving a comparable sequence of events. In that case, forensic toxicology results confirmed the presence of zolpidem, a prescription sedative commonly used for sleep disorders, in the victim's system. Investigators noted that the physical symptoms reported in that case closely mirrored those described by the victim in Hallandale Beach.

Crouse was apprehended on September 11 after an officer with the Seminole Police Department made contact with her in Hollywood, Florida, during an unrelated investigation regarding a trespassing complaint. A routine records inquiry revealed the outstanding warrant issued by Broward County, prompting officers to take her into custody and transfer her to the Broward County Sheriff's Office jail.

Court records confirm that Crouse is charged with grand theft of property valued between $20,000 and $100,000, which constitutes a second-degree felony under Florida law. Following a hearing on September 14, a Broward County magistrate determined that probable cause existed to support the charge, setting her bond at $2,500 and imposing a strict no-contact order regarding the victim as the criminal case proceeds.
